Nutrition and Hydration

One of the most important things for your mental health is your diet and how hydrated you are. These two things can make a significant impact on your mental health and wellbeing.

These things can be sometimes overlooked when dealing with mental health problems, but they may be directly affecting the way you feel and could overall make you happier.

An unhealthy diet can cause many issues with your digestive tract and not being hydrated can cause brain fogginess and many other problems. Research has linked dehydration to depression and anxiety, because the affect water can have on the brain, they are directly linked within each other. No water, no happy 🙁

Having an unhealthy diet can also worsen cases of depression and anxiety because you are not supplying your body with the necessary nutrients that it needs to survive and function correctly. We all have felt sluggish after eating Dominos or any other fast food, but the long-term effects of consistently eating terribly can seriously affect your mental health. Studies have shown that eating healthier can significantly help cases of depression and anxiety, and incorporating more olive oil and vegetables in your diet can make a huge difference in mood.

Overall, I think treating yourself to some fast food or some chocolate once in a while can seriously help with your mental health, but the long-term effects of eating unhealthily can make cases of depression and anxiety worse. So, throwing a couple of vegetables and fruit in the mix and a couple of glasses of water can seriously help your mental health... so why not give it a try?
